Encaustic is a very old technique in which beeswax and damar resin are melted together, pigmented, and fused with heat on to a substrate. Some of these paintings have more than 40 layers of encaustic medium applied, each layer fused by a torch. Encaustic paintings will not deteriorate, yellow or darken with time. They do not have to be varnished or protected by glass. This painting will last a lifetime and more.

Love this piece! The artist was exceptionally communicative and accommodating in regards to shipping. It was still terribly hot weather at my time of purchase, so not ideal to ship an encaustic piece of art. Very grateful for her willingness to delay shipping and hold until suitable weather.
